Geoghegan family papers, 1897-1945.

The Geoghegan Family Papers contains papers of three of the Geoghegan brothers -- Richard Henry, James Theodore and John Willis Christopher. The collection is divided into series based on these names. Formerly, each series constituted a separate collection. The Richard Henry Geoghegan series is the largest of the three. It contains family papers, including genealogies, correspondence, diaries, and scrapbooks. Much of the collection relates to Geoghegan's linguistic work and includes materials on Aleut, Esperanto, Japanese, Eskimo, and Athapascan languages. The James Theodore Geoghegan series contains an autobiographical manuscript titled "Sojourn in the Yukon and Alaska", as well as photographs that Geoghegan took, mostly of the Donnelly, Alaska, area. The John Willis Christopher Geoghegan series consists of a single folder containing an autobiographical narrative.
